We're Home!

We made it home from Disney World. We had a great time. A big Thank You to my mom who came and helped out with Maddy!! I don't know how people did it with more than one kid.

Maddy loved the characters but not the dark rides so much. Probably because we did the Haunted Mansion and Snow White's Scary Adventure with her on the first day. BTW Snow White was scary... I didn't even really like it.

Nate and I got to do Mission Space and it was really cool. For those of you who don't know what Mission Space is as close as you can get to blasting off into space with out leaving Earth. I have to admit I was a bit nervous at first (I have been known to get motion sick on some spinning rides) but once I got used to the sensation it was awesome. Of course there was the Tower of Tower and the Rockin' Roller Coaster, two of our favorites. We also went on a Safari and saw some great shows. The Lion King, It's Tough to be a Bug, Mickey's Philharmagic and my favorite the Hoop Dee Doo Review.

Maddy loved the Dumbo and the Aladdin rides. We should have taken more time to watch the parades and play in the pool but I felt like we spent so much time waiting for the bus I didn't ever want to leave the parks until the very end, which was fine for the adults but not so great for a very overstimulated two year old.

Ahh I guess I will know better for next time. Here are some of our pictures and short videos from the trip. We are trying something new ... we are going to try to post a slide show. Mickey Mouse here we come!

We leave for Disney World tomorrow at 6:00 am. That means up by about 2:30 but hopefully in Disney World on the Tower of Tower by 10:30!!

Happy Mother's Day everyone!

My inconvenient truth :o)

Let me clarify a few things for those of you who believe that I had a political agenda when I mentioned the movie An Inconvenient Truth. To be perfectly honest, I could care less about politics, when I said the movie was compelling I meant it was compelling from a save the earth point of view, not a Liberal or Conservative or science/pseudosience point of view. I do admit that I made a smart-alecky crack about my Republican friends but that was more because I presumed that the minute anyone saw the name Al Gore that it would become political. When it comes to the environment, to our future I don’t think it’s necessary to split hairs over politics. My point and I did have one, was that the movie made me want to do something more than I was already doing. I think that in itself is enough reason to watch the movie. That was my point.

Anyone who knows me knows I hate arguing/debating and I don’t get revved up about stuff, this revved me up. For once I was feeling like there was something I could do to change the big picture, to make an impact, to leave a legacy, to do something that would make the world better for Maddy. That’s all, no political agenda, I was inspired by a movie about making the planet better.

A little late for Earth Day but..

So last night Nate and I watched An Inconvenient Truth and I have to say it got me thinking. Honestly, I had no intention of watching it but it was so compelling I couldn't stop. I would recommend it to anyone who has children, grandchildren or anyone who plans on being around for the next 30 years or so. Even Republicans (you know who you are) should watch it, because its not so much about politics as the environment.

As I was watching I started feeling more and more like it was too late but it isn't; and that gave me hope. I would strongly encourage everyone to do what they can to reduce their impact on this planet so it's around for our kids. I think we have been conditioned to believe that we can either be green or have money but that isn't true... besides what good is having money if you don't have a planet to spend the money on?

OK that's it I will step off of my soapbox but seriously go plant a tree or change your light bulbs its the least you can do for our planet!
