The many faces of Maddy

Today is about Maddy's silly face and tiny hamburgers (more on those later). In the course of about an hour this afternoon I got all of the faces above. The fudge pop explains itself, then she got into my make-up but sadly I interrupted her halfway through. Mean mommy!

So today at school they learned about hamburgers except not all kids eat meat in the class so they made fun burgers. WHAT?! They made burgers in preschool? Yep. Preschool burgers are made with vanilla wafers and grasshopper cookies. As Maddy says they are so so so cute.

Maddy's new glasses

We have the new glasses and I like them. Maddy is having a hard time getting them on because they are the kind that hook over her ear and she gets pretty mad, but I hope this encourages her to keep them on!

We haven't been doing much this week, trying to stay warm. We had our first day above freezing since Jan 2nd or 3rd. Friday last week it was -17 when I woke up add the windchill and it was about -40. BRRRRRRRRR This picture is from last Friday she has on a tank top two long sleeve shirts and the sweater, she is also wearing tights, stretch pants and the sweats.

We found out yesterday that my dad needs surgery on his knee for a multitude of ailments so my mom is trying to work it so that the two of them come to Chicago so she can take care of both of us. I am having carpal tunnel surgery and we thought it would be nice if my mom could come help out since I will once again be the one armed bandit. Of course I keep telling her that having dad with one leg is more pressing since I will really only need help getting Maddy in and out of her car seat and maybe washing my hair. It feels selfish for me to have her here if dad is going to need her at home.

I can't freaking believe it

So I found Maddy's glasses today. Hooray!! Evidently Alaska is in the pocket of my robe that I don't remember wearing since Christmas.
Thanks to everyone for the ideas on where to find the glasses. :o)
I just wish I found them before I ordered new ones. Now we have two pairs just in case this happens again.

Installation complete

New Floors are in! I think they look fantastic. It was a long 3 days while they were installed but the crew was determined to get it done in 3 days and they did it. I think the worst part was that our garage was full of tools and old floor and new floor and so our cars were outside.

Cars don't like to be outside when its -15 outside.

Now I have the task of cleaning up all the dust and we get to move the furniture back in place tonight.

Dining Room

This is where the most damage was. See the little feet? They were running to get in the picture.

One of the installers signed his name in the dust on the table. Too bad he isn't famous.

The other news is that Maddy is getting new glasses. I haven't found the old ones anywhere. For three days every time I asked her where they were she would tell me they were in Alaska. Then one day she told me she threw them in the garbage. I suppose I'll never know. The thing that drives me crazy is that we were in the same room all day. I can't believe it happened right in front of me. You will see more pictures of Madelyn wearing her patch. We have to have it on her at least 4 hours a day. We just went to the eye doctor and she says that she has a lot of potential in her right eye and it can still get better so I am on a mission to make it so.

New Year

Where to start? New Years Eve morning arrived with a water feature in our basement. So now imagine the next 5 days with turbo fans running. I never really noticed how loud they were until I turned one off then it was like torture to turn it back on. So long story short we need to replace half of our kitchen floor and refinish the floors in the rest of the house. The hardwood is continuous throughout the upstairs and it wouldn't be possible to only do part. So now we are trying to find a floor specialist or company or something.

I really shouldn't complain I don't have 72 inches of snow.

I am discovering that the "terrible twos" were nothing compared to the Terrific Threes. Maddy has been expressing her opinions and thoughts with vigor lately. Right now our battles are over getting dressed and combing her hair and how many times a day she watches Toy Story.

I have also decided to try the South Beach Diet. Although I don't like the word diet so I am calling it a new way of eating. I started on Monday and I have lost 5 pounds already and I don't really feel like I am missing anything. We had some of the Wamu gang over last night and I bought a cheesecake for dessert. I had about 6 bites and I was done.

Here are a few pics for those of you who don't like to read and only want to look at pictures. :o)
