We are homeowners (almost)

Well, it's been awhile since my last post so here's the haps for the last week or so. After the bone chilling cold we actually warmed up to above freezing. We were out and about on Sunday and ended up in our sweatshirts because it was a toasty 34 degrees. If we were still in Seattle and it was 34 degrees we would be bundled up in our parkas. Funny how quickly you acclimate to weather changes

We made an offer on a house last night and they have accepted it. Now we just need to cross our fingers that our house sells. We have a contingent offer on our house and the people buying our house have an offer on their house so the optimist in me says its going to work out. I can see how one thing could have a huge domino effect and muck up the works.

Madelyn continues to grow and change daily. She cracks me up-- always wanting MORE it doesn't really matter what it is if she thinks its fun she wants more of it. Tickles, swinging, Frisbee throwing, dancing etc. Last night, while we were negotiating for the house we were throwing the Frisbee down the hall and she would run full speed to go and get it and bring it back to us. She did it for nearly a half an hour by the end of it she was so tired that she would try to run and her little legs would not cooperate and she'd stumble and so she'd have to slow down. but she kept at it until we put the Frisbee up. Here is a cute video of Nate teaching Maddy to throw the Frisbee.

As soon as I go take pictures of the new house I will post them or if you have access to a website that shows pictures of houses for sale you can put in MLS #06699758.

Here are some silly pictures. The first one is Maddy eating yogurt all by herself, I thought it was cute because she kept opening up her mouth really wide before the spoon was close. The middle picture is just a fun Maddy picture. She makes funny faces at me all the time. The last picture is Maddy trying to squish me while I lay on the floor. There were several variations of this picture taken because she thought I should take a picture of her socks (on her feet) so she was putting her feet up in the air and trying to get them in front of the camera.

Restoring the honor of the Wehunt Family

Just a quick update from Nate...I'm now official in Illinois as well. You'll be happy to hear that I corrected the locals' opinion of the Wehunt family driving ability by scoring 100% on my test. Of course, they haven't seen my famous park the truck on the roof trick yet though....

The coldest weekend - ever!

This weekend was cold. Saturday the high was 7 with a windchill of -15.Here is a picture of Maddy almost ready to go outside. What you can't see are the 4 layers she has on under her coat. We went to the library on Saturday and then out to lunch but it was so cold I thought my ears might fall off. I don't know how the football players that played in Green Bay played in shirtsleeves.

So you are asking what do you do with a 2 year old when you can't really go outside and you are living in a tiny 2 bedroom apartment?

You build a fort. This fort has it all, a Dora couch, a DVD player, play dough, letters and crayons. Maybe it was a little much for Maddy.

These next pictures could be black mail pictures for when she is older. She got out of the tub and insisted on playing in her fort and I couldn't get her dressed or comb her hair. Just remember kid, you asked for it. :)

Here is a video from my favorite time of day. Nap time! Maybe its the shirt... I just realized she has on the same shirt from the other video. My crazy girl.

YAY I exist in Illinois!!

I was finally able to get all of the proper documentation to prove I live in the Land of Lincoln. I have never been so excited to sit in line at the DMV in my life. I nearly aced the written test (only missed one question). Not bad since I had my adorable two year old with me.

Now that I am a Illinoisan (yes it's right, I looked it up), I enrolled Maddy in a music class that we can go to on Tuesday. Woo Hoo!!

Madelyn is excited that I exist here too!! Maybe she is just excited that she gets to go to music class.

Nap time? I don't think so.

Today when I put Maddy down for her nap, she kept calling me. She wanted me to lay down with her on her pillows then she wanted to jump and count and be silly. So eventually I got the camera out and recorded some of her antics.

Sorry its sideways, I thought I'd be able to turn it bur I can't. We can't get her to go to three but she will count to two forever.

Maddy at the park

This is the great park we found of Wednesday. There was a huge playground, three or four baseball fields, an ice rink (free) and a huge nature preserve with walking trails.

Maddy kept wanting to go under but she didn't like putting her hands on the ground. She was trying to limbo under and ended up falling on her tush. It was pretty funny to watch.

She was cracking up the whole time she was swinging, but I am not sure if it was because she was having fun or because the swing was squeaky. It was hilarious.

Here's Maddy mugging for the camera. She will find my camera and bring to me and say "cheese" This was on Monday but the picture was too cute and I had to post it. :)

Idiosyncrasies in Buffalo Grove

  • No one can bag groceries. I got 15 bags each with 3 things inside.
  • They like to run yellow/red lights (worse than Spokane)
  • They honk at everything but are really nice in person (repressed rage?)
  • In order belong to any of the park districts here you have to prove you are a resident but it's impossible to do
  • To get our driver's licenses, which would prove we are residents we need no less than 4 different forms of ID one of which is proof of residency which is why we are trying to get the license in the first place.

Chicago Winter? Bah!

We arrived in Chicago on Friday the 4th. On Sunday we set a record high temp of 60 degrees. right now it's only 6:15 in the morning and 58 degrees so it's going to be another warm day. Strangely enough, our little apartment's air conditioning isn't working so I need to get them to fix it. Do you think it will be a priority for them to fix the AC in Jan? I don't. :)

All we have done is drive around and familiarize ourselves with the area and shop. I was totally stoked to find a Chevy's in Shaumburg (only 11 miles or so away). What more could I ask for? Starbucks? Just down the road. Red Robin? Not to far away either. Hopefully I will find friends as easily as I found my favorite restaurants.

I haven't been very good about taking pictures but I will do better and get some posted in the next few days.
